Q & A: Skinnies and booties...

A frequent question I get is:

HOW DO I ROLL/ NOT ROLL/ BUNCH/ NOT BUNCH/ TUCK/ NOT TUCK... MY SKINNIES INTO MY BOOTIES???

I received these photos last week from a client, she was asking this exact question:

(I would suggest not tucking quite so much, let the hem of your jean fall into your boot a little more naturally...  this looks a bit too forced.)

(The roll here is good.  I might let it be a little more relaxed, but that's personal preference!)

(Don't you love that your skinnies work with heels/ flats/ and your boots?!)
I think as 'undone' as you can be is best, no one wants to look perfectly tucked or rolled.  Here are some examples of what I aim for:

I love this look, haphazardly rolled with a small sliver of skin showing.  Make sure you wear shorty socks when attempting this look, no one wants to see your St. Patty's shamrock socks peeking out!!  (this is a note to self lol.)

Two options shown here and I think both are good.  You can let the hem of your skinny jean touch the top of the boot, slight bunching is fine and looks very relaxed.  Also, you can roll the hem a bit... This is a little outside the norm, I would say maybe a little too much bunching pictured here, but at the end of the day whatever you LOVE always works!

I hope that helps!  Please, keep the questions coming:

Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn't really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That's because they were able to connect experiences they've had and synthesize new things.”  Steve Jobs
